Lunch card – FAQ
Food (lunch) cards are accepted at catering establishments in Poland, e.g. bars, canteens, restaurants, “Pan Kanapka” catering company, vending machines, etc., and online, and they also enable quick and safe contactless payment by phone using the Google Pay™ and Apple Pay applications.
The value of the prepaid card for meals is exempt from social insurance contributions if it does not exceed PLN 190 per month. This presents the company with PLN 462 of savings per employee per year.
Legal grounds: §2(1)(11) of the Regulation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy dated 18 December 1998 (Journal of Laws of 1998, No. 161, item 1106, as amended, latest amendment: Regulation of the Minister of Economy, Labour and Social Policy of 15 November 2004, Journal of Laws of 2004, No. 243, item 2434). The contribution assessment basis does not include the “value of meals provided to the employees to eat that are subsidised by the employer without entitling the employees to an equivalent in this regard – up to an amount of PLN 190 per month”.
